The President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, received a warm welcome from members of Indonesia’s diaspora in Brazil, including Isaque Hattu, Chair of the Indonesian Diaspora in São Paulo. Hattu expressed his delight in welcoming the President and the entire delegation, emphasizing the strong sense of solidarity within the small Indonesian community in Brazil. He shared with President Prabowo about the origins of the diaspora members and their enthusiasm in joining the welcoming event.
During the meeting, Hattu had the opportunity to engage in casual conversation with Prabowo, where he mentioned his family background with roots in Maluku and Kupang. The President showed appreciation for Hattu’s story, even recognizing the name of Petrus Oktavianus, a past Indonesian representative in Brazil. As the discussion came to a close, Hattu expressed hope that Prabowo’s leadership would enhance the relations between Indonesia and Brazil through cultural exchanges, grassroots initiatives, and promoting a better understanding of Indonesia’s diversity among Brazilians.
