Indonesia’s Minister of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), Maman Abdurrahman, recently introduced the RISE To IPO program, aimed at providing alternative financing options to support the growth of medium-sized businesses. The program addresses the challenge faced by medium enterprises in Indonesia, which goes beyond just access to capital, but also includes the absence of long-term and sustainable financing solutions tailored to their specific requirements.

During the launch event for the RISE To IPO program in Jakarta, Minister Maman highlighted the growing potential of Indonesia’s capital market as a viable alternative funding source. He emphasized that the initiative serves as a crucial bridge to help medium enterprises transition from private companies to publicly listed entities that are more organized, transparent, and competitive.

Data from the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) unveiled that by the end of 2024, 42 medium-scale companies were listed on the acceleration board, with a significant presence from sectors like consumer goods, technology, and property. Minister Maman pointed out that these medium enterprises are anticipated to become pivotal players for numerous micro and small businesses throughout Indonesia.

He further explained that a resilient and competitive medium enterprise can play a dual role as an off-taker and aggregator in supply chain partnerships, thereby creating a ripple effect on the national economy. This initiative is in line with President Prabowo Subianto’s Asta Cita vision, emphasizing the importance of industrial downstreaming and strengthening productive sectors.

By transitioning into publicly listed companies, medium enterprises are not only fortifying their business resilience but also unlocking new growth opportunities for micro and small businesses to expand and elevate their operations. This move is geared towards fostering a more dynamic business environment, ultimately contributing to the overall economic development of Indonesia.
