EU Visa Access Easier for Indonesians: Prabowo’s Brussels Trip Boosts Second Visit Arrangements

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced a new visa policy aimed at facilitating Indonesian citizens’ entry into the European Union. Under this new policy, starting from their second visit, Indonesians will be eligible for a multi-entry Schengen visa. The announcement was made during a joint press conference with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto at the Berlaymont Building in Brussels. Von der Leyen highlighted that the visa policy is designed to strengthen long-term ties between Indonesia and the EU, particularly in areas such as education, investment, and social exchange. This initiative is part of the people-to-people connections pillar of the EU–Indonesia strategic partnership, emphasizing the importance of building bridges between the two regions. President Prabowo welcomed the deepening of ties and emphasized the significance of trust and shared values in fostering a strong partnership. He expressed hope for the finalization and signing of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) in Brussels, signaling a new chapter in bilateral relations between Indonesia and the European Union characterized by openness, cooperation, and mutual benefits for citizens.
