National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has decided to temporarily halt the operations of its Nutritional Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) due to the discovery of substandard food in the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) Program. The suspension was announced by Redy Hendra Gunawan, Special Staff to the BGN, in Jakarta on Monday. BGN is working with independent institutions, local health, and education departments to investigate the issue and ensure the well-being of affected students. The agency expresses its sincerest apologies to the students, parents, schools, and all parties impacted by the incident and reassures its commitment to maintaining high food safety standards. Measures being taken to address the issue include intensifying partner screening, improving hygiene standards, enhancing food quality monitoring, and implementing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) based on expert recommendations. BGN aims to learn from this incident to improve the program and continue delivering its benefits effectively with the support of all stakeholders.
