Aprilia has reached out to VR46 to provide satellite bikes for MotoGP’s new 850cc era in 2027, but it seems that Valentino Rossi’s team is on the verge of renewing its partnership with Ducati. VR46 has been a loyal Ducati customer since entering the premier class in 2022, achieving success and multiple race wins with the Desmosedici. Their collaboration was further solidified in 2024 when VR46 became a factory-supported team and received the latest machinery from Ducati. Despite rumors of a potential move to Yamaha, VR46 never seriously considered leaving Ducati, as team principal Uccio Salucci revealed in an interview. Ducati, which previously supplied up to eight bikes on the grid, is now close to finalizing a new contract with VR46 for the 2027-2029 seasons. While the technical changes for 2027 are in the spotlight, teams are also negotiating a new commercial agreement with MotoGP Sports Entertainment. Until these agreements are settled, official announcements on rider line-ups and partnerships may be delayed.
