YouTuber Cleetus McFarland, also known as Garrett Mitchell, made headlines in the NASCAR world by signing a two-year deal to race part-time for Richard Childress Racing in the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series (NOAPS). With almost five million subscribers on his YouTube channel, Mitchell entered professional stock car racing last year in the ARCA Menard’s Series, where he achieved two top ten finishes in five starts. Despite crashing early in his NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series debut at Daytona, Mitchell remains committed to honing his racing skills and is now looking to fund a late model program. His first race in the O’Reilly Series is set for Easter Weekend at Rockingham, where he previously tested a truck and brushed the wall at Turn 2. Backed by Tommy’s Express Car’s Wash, Mitchell will pilot the #33 RCR Chevrolet, joining the full-time entries of Jesse Love (#2) and Austin Hill (#21). RCR, the defending driver’s champion with Love, occasionally fields a third car like the #33, driven by Kasey Kahne in Rockingham last year. Despite an early incident, Kahne finished 14th in that race. This paint scheme for the #33 RCR Chevrolet was unveiled recently, adding excitement for Mitchell’s upcoming NOAPS debut.
