President Prabowo Subianto has made a promise to lead Indonesia’s state budget towards a zero-deficit position during his address on the 2026 State Budget Bill at the Parliament Complex in Senayan. The 2026 draft budget includes state spending of Rp 3,786.5 trillion and projected revenue of Rp 3,147.7 trillion, with a targeted fiscal deficit of Rp 638.8 trillion, equivalent to 2.48% of GDP. Prabowo expressed his commitment to implementing efficiency measures to reduce the deficit and aspires to achieve a deficit-free state budget in the future. He emphasized the importance of courage in eliminating budgetary leakages and called for the support of all political forces in Indonesia.
To achieve this goal, the government will focus on creative and innovative financing methods to reduce reliance on the state budget. Prabowo highlighted the need for a flexible budget that can withstand global shocks while maintaining revenue optimization, improved spending quality, and financing innovation. Efforts will be made to boost tax revenues, support the investment climate, and provide fiscal incentives to strategic economic activities.
Furthermore, the management of natural resources will be strengthened to ensure maximum benefit for the people’s prosperity. Prabowo emphasized the efficient and productive management of state assets to generate added value and enhance the welfare of the citizens. The government is committed to managing the state budget responsibly and prudently to achieve a zero-deficit position in the future.
